Czech Republic star Patrick Schick silenced Hampden Park with a stunning goal from the halfway line to double his side’s lead in their Euro 2020 meeting with Scotland.

The Bayer Leverkusen man had already opened the scoring with a superb header shortly before half-time in Monday’s Group D clash in Glasgow, though Jack Hendry almost levelled the score, hitting the woodwork with an effort from range.

But soon after the restart, Schick scored comfortably the goal of the tournament so far as he pounced on a loose ball after Jack Hendry’s shot had been charged down.

Spotting David Marshall well off his line, lobbed the Scotland goalkeeper with a curling effort from just inside the opposition half.

The game is Scotland’s first at a major tournament since the 1998 World Cup in France, and therefore the first in living memory for an entire generation of Scottish fans.

Their second match is a huge derby against England at Wembley on Friday, with the Three Lions having got their campaign off to a winning start against Croatia on Saturday.
