Papa Bouba Diop: Fulham’s Ademola Lookman pays tribute to late midfielder with Senegal shirt goal celebration

PA

Fulham forward Lookman opened the scoring at the King Power Stadium on Monday night in the 30th minute and immediately ran over to his team’s bench.

Once there the 23-year-old grabbed hold of a Senegal shirt, with Diop’s number on the back, and held it aloft to the sky.

The celebration was done in tribute to the late Diop, who tragically passed away at the weekend at the age of just 42.

The former midfielder played for Fulham for three seasons and became a cult hero for the club during that time.

Fulham were keen to pay tribute to Diop ahead of this game at Leicester and wore back armbands during the match.

They also took part in a minute’s applause before kick off, while Diop’s Senegal shirt hung in the dressing room.
