Owen Coyle wants clarification on David Nugent situation

Success: David Nugent has done well since returning to the north-west

Burnley manager Owen Coyle is keen to speak to Avram Grant about David Nugent.

Coyle wants clarification with the Portsmouth boss about the striker's situation.

Nugent, 24, is on a six-month loan at Turf Moor and Burnley have an option to buy him or extend the loan.

However that arrangement was made when Paul Hart was Portsmouth manager and he has since been sacked and replaced by Grant.

Nugent is available again on Saturday against Fulham after missing the defeat by his parent club last week.

Coyle said: "We are not any further forward in terms of dialogue. We have an agreement with Portsmouth but we have to see if anything has changed with Avram.

"We tried to have a chat last week but it was difficult. David obviously has a role to play as well in terms of shaping his own career. He is a player I like and we will see what the outcome is."

Nugent has spent most of his time on the bench with Burnley, making only three starts and scoring two goals.
