John Terry is confident he will recover from an ankle injury in time to face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Chelsea skipper Terry had to pull out of England’s clash with Ukraine tomorrow after hurting his ankle in the win over Moldova on Friday.

Standard Sport understands the 31-year-old (above, after sustaining the injury) has suffered only minor damage and if he recovers he is set to face QPR defender Anton Ferdinand on the pitch for the first time since the race trial in July.

Terry was found not guilty of making a racially aggravated assault toward Ferdinand in the corresponding fixture last October.

There is speculation over whether Ferdinand and the rest of his QPR team-mates will shake Terry’s hand before kick-off.

The ritual was scrapped for the FA Cup tie at Loftus Road and League match at Stamford Bridge in January and April respectively.
