Olympiakos midfielder Mady Camara is interested in a move to Watford but is unlikely to make a decision over his future until after this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Camara has enjoyed a fine debut season in Greece after joining Olympiakos from French side AC Ajaccio for around £2million last summer.
The 22-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring six goals, and he was rewarded with a new contract in January - although its length was not extended past its current expiry of June 2023.
Camara’s new deal was in recognition of the significant interest in him, with Watford one of those who have been tracking him this season.
The Hornets have scouted the Guinea international, who is valued at around £12m, and are considering whether to firm up their interest when the transfer window opens.
Several other sides are understood to be keeping tabs on Camara, including Newcastle United, while he has also been watched by clubs in Germany and Italy this season.
Standard Sport understands that the midfielder is interested in a move to Watford and could be tempted to make the switch to Vicarage Road.
The 22-year-old will not rush his decision, however, and is unlikely to make a call before this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, which starts on June 21.
Olympiakos meanwhile, who finished second in the Greek Superleague this year, are still working on persuading Camara to stay put for at least one more season
