Sergio Ramos has launched a convincing defence to clear up suggestions he stamped on Raheem Sterling.

The Manchester City forward scored twice as England beat Spain 3-2 in Seville on Monday night but was also involved in a separate incident with the Real Madrid defender.

Sterling went down clutching his leg following a coming together with the Spain captain inside the penalty box.

But Ramos has now produced a fairly convincing argument to clear his name, posting close-up footage of the incident that shows Sterling on the floor before the contact was made.

Along with the footage, Ramos wrote in both Spanish and English: ‘Nothing else to say.’

Ramos scored a late header for Luis Enrique’s side following Paco Alcacer’s second-half effort but it was not enough to rescue a point following Sterling’s brace.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford also got on the score sheet with a neat finish.

Sterling’s sublime opener was his first Three Lions goal for three years.
