The FA and energy company SSE have today announced a four year title sponsorship for the Women's FA cup.

At a press conference at Wembley Arena today, it was announced that SSE has locked into a seven figure deal with the FA in a commitment to boosting the profile of women's football.

The launch of the partnership saw 100 girls arrive at the stadium to celebrate what will now be known as The SSE Women's FA Cup.

This partnership marks a landmark moment for women's football, with the first ever major sponsorship of the women's FA Cup.

Heather Rabbatts, FA board member and chair of the Inclusion Advisory Board announced the news, saying the partnership was 'good news' in the midst of the current news surrounding world football. She said that the partnership was 'an ongoing commitment to the game'.

Alan Young, SSE Managing Director of Corporate Affairs said: "There aren't enough women in our company, there aren't enough women in this sector. This sponsorship will transform the profile and impact of the game."

The 2016 SSE Women's FA Cup Final will be played at Wembley Stadium on Saturday May 14th.
