Rafael Benitez and Roberto di Matteo could be going head to head to become Napoli coach next season.

Napoli, currently second in Serie A, fear boss Walter Mazzarri is set to leave at the end of the campaign for Inter Milan and are already drawing up a shortlist of candidates to replace him.

Di Matteo (above) has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in November, just six months after winning the Champions League.

The Italian is expected to take a job this summer after a break to get over the disappointment at how his Stamford Bridge reign ended.

Benitez was the man who replaced Di Matteo and will also be looking for a new position at the end of the month when his contract as interim boss comes to an end.

It is believed Benitez would prefer to work in the Premier League but he wants a job at a club that can compete for trophies and has few options.
