Moussa Sissoko insists he has a long-term future of Tottenham despite struggling to make an impact during his first season at White Hart Lane.
The France international joined from Newcastle last summer in a deal that could eventually be worth £30 million but he has struggled to earn the trust of manager Mauricio Pochettino and has made just 10 starts this season.
That has led clubs who chased him a year ago, including AC Milan and Everton, to monitor the situation but Sissoko says he expects to stay where he is.
He told beIN Sports: “My future is at Tottenham and I'm trying to give my best. I'm trying to learn because I have to get used to a new style of playing in a new team.”
Both Sissoko and Pochettino have said that the player has had challenges adapting to a training and tactical regime that are very different from what he was used to at Newcastle.
Yet notwithstanding that, Sissoko’s return has still been disappointing. Pochettino does not count on the 27-year-old for the team’s main matches and he is still looking for his first goal for Spurs, although he has contributed two assists in the Premier League.
Despite Sissoko’s confidence about his future, there is likely to be more movement at White Hart Lane at the end of the season.
Pochettino wants to improve his squad and chairman Daniel Levy will be keen to find buyers for the players pushed to the fringes. That means it is not impossible Sissoko, along with fellow summer 2016 signings Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, will be proposed to other clubs.
