Mousa Dembele has urged Tottenham to "make up" for their Europa League defeat to Gent in next week's second leg at Wembley.

Spurs travelled to Belgium as clear favourites but produced a disjointed performance at the Ghelamco Arena.

Harry Kane cut an isolated figure up front - and also suffered a minor knee injury - with Jeremy Perbet's solitary goal proving to be the difference between the two sides.

Mauricio Pochettino's men must improve if they are to avoid an embarrassing early exit and Dembele has called on his teammates to respond at their temporary home.

"It was a tough game for us. Now we need to make it up and win at Wembley. We know we have enough quality," he told Tottenham's official website.

Meanwhile, Pochettino's decision to switch to a back three in the second half of the first leg initially appeared to help the momentum swing in Tottenham's favour.

But Perbet's effort knocked the visitors back and Eric Dier has admitted Spurs failed to regain their composure after falling behind.

"In the first half, they were the better of the two sides but after half-time we were better until the goal. It stopped us in our tracks.

"We could not get going again. They sat back and we could not get the away goal," he added.

The north Londoners will have little time to dwell on their disappointment as they face Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
