Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has responded “really positively” in training after being dropped for Sunday’s north London derby due to disciplinary reasons.

Aubameyang was understood to have been late for a pre-match meeting ahead of Sunday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham and was subsequently left on the bench for the entire game.

Arteta insists the incident is now in the past and Aubameyang could return on Thursday to start the second leg of Arsenal’s last-16 Europa League tie against Olympiacos.

The Spaniard has held talks with Aubameyang over the matter and asked how he has responded in training, Arteta said: “Really positively.

“That’s why I said that this is over, that we move forward in a positive way and there is no more comment to make on that.

“He trained really well, the last two days he was smiling as usual, as we always expect from Auba. It’s all good.”
