Mauricio Pochettino says the international break has arrived at a good time for Tottenham in the wake of today's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Kevin Wimmer's own goal put the Gunners ahead but Harry Kane scored a penalty on his return from injury to secure a valuable point for Spurs.

Tottenham remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season but have failed to win any of their last seven games in all competitions, which has seen them slip off the title pace.

The north Londoners are not in action again until they welcome West Ham to White Hart Lane on 19 November and Pochettino has welcomed the reprieve that the international break will bring.

"It was a very tough month for us and it's good to have the break now" he told BT Sport.

"I'm very happy with the performance. We played well in a very difficult place at the Emirates Stadium.

"Arsenal are in a very good run but our players deserve full credit - they were fantastic."

Kane's return proved to be a huge boost for Spurs, who have been without their talisman since mid-September.

The 23-year-old showed no sign of rustiness when he stepped up to slot home from 12 yards and Pochettino was delighted with the striker's contribution as well as the collevtive performance.

"I'm very happy with him. I'm happy that he's back because it's important for the team to feel that one of the best players is available again.

"We showed big, big character to come back into the game. They have unbelievable players but I'm very happy with the second-half performance," added the Argentine coach.
