Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful Hugo Lloris will sign a new contract with Tottenham but admits there has been little progress in agreeing fresh terms with his captain.
Lloris signed a new five-year deal in 2014 worth about £80,000 a week and has said repeatedly that he is happy at Tottenham.
Harry Kane brought smiles to the faces of Tottenham fans today/on Thursday by signing a new five-and-a-half-year deal that could take him past the £100,000-a-week mark. Tottenham would love their goalkeeper to follow suit.
Pochettino said: “Maybe in the next few days there will be more contract news – but not about Hugo.
"He is very ambitious but I can only tell you he is very happy, he wants success here and to stay here. That is his ambition.”
The latest new deal mentioned by Pochettino is thought to involve Jan Vertonghen, who has been working on an agreement with Spurs for some weeks.
Vertonghen is out of contract in the summer of 2018 and his salary is expected to increase to about £60,000 a week when he signs again.
Vertonghen has been a key player throughout Pochettino’s reign and he is one of the men the Argentine will rely upon to improve a recent record of one win in 10 games.

Pochettino added: “In the last six weeks we all feel disappointed, for different reasons too difficult to explain. But I was very happy after the Chelsea game last week.
“We played well and regained the feeling we had after beating Manchester City 2-0 [on October 2]. This week has been perfect because we trained hard and had lots of meetings.
“The answers from the players were fantastic. We only need to deliver against Swansea on Saturday and take the three points.”
