Matteo Darmian’s mooted move to Manchester United is not yet complete, Torino’s president has said.

Louis van Gaal’s side are expected to complete a £14.3 million deal for the former AC Milan right-back in the coming days, with a medical expected before the end of the week.

The right-back’s manager had confirmed earlier today that he expected Darmian to leave but his boss, president Urbana Cairo, was less convinced that the move was a done deal.

"I'm very fond of Darmian. Matteo is a very important player for us. He's essential and well liked,” Cairo told La7.

"Manchester United are a great club but there's still nothing done regarding his sale. Until there is something definite, I'd prefer not to speak about it officially."

Darmian was one of the few bright spot during a hugely frustrating 2014 World Cup for Italy. The defender now has 13 caps to his name.
