Brendan Rodgers has reaffirmed that Mario Balotelli’s future lies away from Anfield, insisting the striker ‘knows his situation’.

Speaking ahead of their clash with Bournemouth, Rodgers was asked to give an update on the Italian’s future, something which the Liverpool boss deemed relatively straight forward.

“He [Balotelli] clearly knows his situation and he where he’s at,” said Rodgers. “There’s nothing to add. All of the players understand where they’re at.”

“My job is to create the best possible environment for the team to succeed,” he continued.

“That’s what I’ve always done. So I’m not going to speak about Mario when I can speak about another 25 players.”

Balotelli was spotted yesterday at the Etihad Stadium during Manchester City's 3-0 win against Chelsea, sparking further questions regarding his loyalty to the club after recent his outburst on social media asking for fans to support Raheem Sterling following his move to City.
