Marcus Rashford heaped praise on strike partner Anthony Martial as the duo fired Manchester United to within a point of the Premier League’s top four with a 2-0 win over Burnley.

Martial struck on the stroke of half-time, punishing an error from Charlie Taylor, to break the deadlock against a resolute Clarets defence, before Rashford finally made the points safe deep into stoppage time.

At least one of Martial and Rashford have scored in every single one of United’s league wins this season, and the lethal pair now have 26 goals between them in all competitions.

But while the Englishman has been fairly consistent, Martial’s return to fitness and form is a more recent development, with the Frenchman scoring five times in his last six games, and Rashford is hoping it continues.

“He was brilliant again today,” Rashford told BT Sport. “For a forward, there’s nothing better than scoring goals.

“Hopefully it keeps his confidence high and this can continue until the end of the season.

“We could have been more clinical. Their centre-halves were heading away every single ball that came in and it wasn't easy, but we did well to get the win."
