The summer transfer window has been flung open, with gossip flying thick and fast.

Premier League champions Chelsea will need to act fast in the market just to keep up with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, who combined with Manchester United have already spent a combined £100million.

With competition as fierce as it ever has been in the English top flight, a record summer of spending is expected - ensuring plenty of ridiculous headlines and tongue-in-cheek rumours.

With that in mind, here are the best of Saturday's rumours...

A definitive stance or a Cristiano Ronaldo sulk? If Saturday's update on this shock news is anything to go by, it looks like the former rather than the latter.

Portuguese outlet Record maintains that Ronaldo is so disillusioned with life in Spain that he does not intend to return after Portugal duty at the Confederations Cup.

Indeed, agent Jorge Mendes has been aware of his star client's desire for two months, according to Spain's AS newspaper. The news comes in the wake of Ronaldo being accused of defrauding the Spanish authorities of millions of euros in tax.
