Kyle Walker signs two-year contract extension at Man City

Kyle Walker has extended his stay at Manchester City after signing a new deal with the Premier League champions.

The club announced the news on Wednesday afternoon, and confirmed that the defender had put pen to paper on a two-year extension that will see Walker stay with Pep Guardiola's side until 2024.

Standard Sport reported on Tuesday that Walker's new deal is believed to be worth about £180,000 per week with performance-related bonuses included.

Walker has cemented his spot in the City side after arriving from Tottenham in a £45m deal in the summer of 2017.

"I'm thrilled to have signed a new deal,” he said. “Playing for City has been everything I’d hoped it would be and more.

“It was an easy decision. I want to be competing for trophies, playing at the highest level, and I feel I have improved hugely as a player during my time here.

“The blub’s vision – both on and off the pitch – matches mine perfectly and I’m looking forward to spending the new five years here, hopefully winning more silverware.”

But his first-team spot at the club, who completed the domestic treble last season, remains uncertain as Guardiola is keen on bringing in competition for the England international.

Juventus' Joao Cancelo is Guardiola's first-choice right-back target this summer, with City prepared to allow Danilo to leave.
