Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal made two changes as his side prepared to host Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw drop out of the squad with injury as Marcos Rojo and Radamel Falcao start. The Colombian will lead the line and Chris Smalling will be handed the captain's armband.

Robin van Persie returns to the matchday squad after contracting a virus ahead of last week's win over Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has named an unchanged side for the sixth consecutive game, with Aaron Ramsey taking his place on the right hand flank ahead of Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere, both of whom have to settle for a place on the bench.

Danny Welbeck has not made it back from injury so Wenger's bench is also unchanged. The Gunners will have plenty of attacking options on the bench, with Tomas Rosicky, Wilshere and Walcott all available.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Mata, Blind, Herrera, Young, Fellaini, Falcao.

Subs: Valdes, Blackett, McNair, Di Maria, Januzaj, van Persie, Wilson

Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis, Giroud

Subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Gabriel, Flamini, Rosicky, Wilshere, Walcott
