Manchester United defender Daley Blind has said he hopes Louis van Gaal stays at the club, but Jose Mourinho looks set to succeed the manager at Old Trafford.

Blind was speaking after United had beaten Crystal Palace in extra time to clinch the FA Cup trophy - a success that looks unlikely to save Van Gaal from the axe given his side's disappointing Premier League campaign.

Indeed, United's win over Bournemouth in the final game of the Premier League season on Tuesday evening was not enough to clinch a Champions League berth and it emerged after victory over Palace on Saturday that Jose Mourinho was being lined up as successor to Van Gaal.

Standard Sport understands the Dutchman will be sacked on Monday and he told reporters 'it's over' as he left the club's London hotel on Sunday following FA Cup celebrations.

But the players appeared unaware of decisions being made by the club's board at Wembley on Saturday evening. Watch Blind's reaction to the news in the video at the top of the article.
