In less than 36 hours the transfer window will have slammed shut, but some clubs have already started to plot their business for the summer.

Doubts over Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford have meant that it’s been a rather quiet January for Manchester United despite the desperate need for youthful quality at the club.

That could all be set to change in the summer though, with United reportedly keen to cherry pick two of the league’s best youngsters from Tottenham.

Both Harry Kane and Dele Alli may be at the very top of Ed Woodward’s list of targets but they will face quite the battle signing the duo, who have signed long-term contracts to keep them at White Hart Lane.

Don’t expect that to perturb United though, who have a history of getting what they want where Spurs are concerned, even if it can take its time.

This could be a rumour that runs for quite a while yet.
