Bruno Fernandes has admitted he has been "surprised" by the quality of his Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford, despite being aware of his glowing reputation before joining.
Fernandes has proved a revelation since his big-money January signing, both scoring and assisting eight goals in 16 games, inspiring United to an impressive 18-game unbeaten run as they chase a Champions League spot.
The Red Devils face a crucial trip to Crystal Palace on Thursday, needing three points to both keep up with Chelsea and capitalise on a faltering Wolves who drew 1-1 to Burnley on Wednesday.
Prior to the game, BT Sport asked the Portugal international to create his perfect player, of which Fernandes picked Rashford for the pace category.
But it is not just Rashford's pace Fernandes has been impressed by; it's also his quality on the ball.
"Rashford, I think he can have amazing pace but with amazing quality," Fernandes told BT Sport.
"It is difficult sometimes going at that velocity and still have the quality to do the right things – the right time to shoot, to pass, the skills.
"He surprised me a lot. Of course I already knew his quality because he is one of the best young players in the world."
Fernandes was also full of praise for Portugal team-mate and former United man Cristiano Ronaldo, of whom he pronounced the most skilful player he has ever seen.
"Cristiano – more in the first years of his career he was one of the most skilful players in the world," he added. "In a segment where he named a team of his best team-mates.
"I think he changed his game a little bit, but he's still a player who is really difficult one against one to defend against.
"For me, for everyone I have played with and against, I think he is the most skilful player I have ever seen."
