Manchester United suffered their second defeat in three pre-season matches as J League outfit Yokohama F Marinos struck late to sink David Moyes’ team today.

United fell behind after barely 30 seconds when veteran Brazilian striker Marquinhos turned in the loose ball after being denied by David de Gea.

Jesse Lingard, 20, who scored twice in Saturday’s 5-1 win in Sydney, levelled after 18 minutes from a cross by former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

Masakazu Tashiro’s own goal gave United the lead but the hosts levelled through defender Fabio’s far-post to header and claimed victory through Yoshihito Fujita in the dying minutes.

United’s Japanese star Shinji Kagawa came on in the second period and, bizarrely, was named man of the match.

United boss Moyes said: "I am disappointed with the goals we conceded.

"We had a lot of opportunities to finish the game off at 2-1 and even after that had chances which we didn't take.

"But the biggest thing about tonight was the effort the players had to put in. We tried to get as many of them through 90 minutes as we could and they worked really hard.

"Some of them did very well and I am pleased with that."
