Manchester United have launched their new away kit at a Brixton ceremony packed with stars.

The new white away shirt was modelled by first-teamers Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Daley Blind and Ashley Young, who will wear the new shirt for the first time in Friday’s trip to Villa Park.

In a similar fashion to their new home kit the white shirt is inspired by United’s rich heritage, none more so than the famous three-stripe designs worn by the club in the 1980s.

However Adidas, producing their first selection of strips in a 10-year deal, have also embraced new technology, with lightweight and breathable technology making what the manufacturers describe as “the most innovative kit design ever”.

The new shirt includes a V-neck collar and Adidas’ three stripes along the shoulders. Included on the hem is a graphic design from the 1990 shirt, the penultimate kit produced by the German company before United moved to Umbro and Nike.

The club’s deal with Adidas has been valued at up to £750 million, the biggest kit deal in the sport’s history.
