Manchester City's Pep Guardiola sent to the stands by referee for furious reaction to disallowed goal vs Liverpool

Pep Guardiola was sent to the stands at half-time of Manchester City's Champions League clash against Liverpool for his angry protestations over a disallowed goal at the Etihad Stadium.

The City coach ran up to referee Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz just after the half-time whistle in the quarter-final second-leg clash had been blown, to make his feeling clears about Leroy Sane's 41st-minute effort being ruled out for offside.

Guardiola was seen shouting angrily at the official and gesturing wildly before Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz decided to send the City boss to the stands.

City, who came into the second leg clash trailing 3-0 from the first leg, had dominated the first half and took a second-minute lead through Gabriel Jesus.

Raheem Sterling, who did not start the first leg at Anfield, played a major role in the opener after he forced Virgil van Dijk into conceding possession near the touchline.

The move ended in the City winger picking the ball back up again, squaring to Jesus who coolly drove it past Loris Karius.
