Manchester United XI vs Arsenal: Ronaldo starts - Confirmed lineup and team news for Premier League

Jonathan Gorrie23 April 2022

Manchester United have been boosted by the return of Cristiano Ronaldo for their must-win clash with Arsenal.

Ronaldo missed their 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on Tuesday after being granted compassionate leave following the death of his new-born son.

But the Portugal international decided to return to training on Wednesday and he has been named in the United side to face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

Ralf Rangnick has made five changes to the team that lost at Anfield.

Scott McTominay returns to the side following a foot problem and Raphael Varane comes into the defence as Harry Maguire drops to the bench after he received a bomb threat at his home on Thursday.

Jadon Sancho starts as Marcus Rashford drops out.

Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw remain injured.

Paul Pogba looks to have played his last game for United after scans this week revealed the midfielder is unlikely to play again this season because of the calf injury he suffered at Anfield.

Man United confirmed XI: De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Telles, Matic, McTominay, Sancho, Fernandes, Elanga, Ronaldo.

Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Jones, Maguire, Mata, Rashford, Lingard, Wan-Bissaka, Garnacho.
