Man City XI vs Man Utd: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and latest injuries for Carabao Cup semi-final

1/21

Aymeric Laporte will face a late fitness test ahead of Manchester City’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg tie against Manchester United.

The defender was left out of the 4-0 win against Fulham on Sunday due to fatigue, following his comeback from a serious knee injury.

Pep Guardiola is adamant he won’t take any risks over Laporte’s long-term fitness and is prepared to rest him again as City defend a 3-1 lead from the first leg.

Meanwhile, Guardiola refused to criticise Jurgen Klopp over the Liverpool manager’s insistence that he will name youngsters for his side's FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town and not take charge of the match himself.

He said: “We accept the schedules of the competitions, the games every two or three days, but don’t tell the manager which selection he has to choose, please.

“That’s our job. They do what they want to do and we will be there - which day, at this time, we’ll be there - but it’s not for them to tell us which players we have to play in games. That’s our duty.”

Manchester City predicted lineup (4-3-3): Bravo; Walker, Stones, Fernandinho, Mendy; De Bruyne, Rodri, Silva; Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling.
