Sergio Aguero made history for Manchester City today as a goal against Liverpool helped the Argentine reach a Premier League landmark.

Aguero's strike against Jurgen Klopp's side at the Etihad was his 124th goal in the competition since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011, making him the League's top highest-scoring player from outside of Europe.

The Etihad strike on Monday night sees him surpass Dwight Yorke's tally of 123, with the likes of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba (104) and Emmanuel Adebayor (97) also among the non-European marksmen to have made an impact.

Aguero sits 15th the all-time Premier League top scorers' list, with Nicolas Anelka (125), Robbie Keane (126) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (127) not far ahead.

However, Aguero has a way to go if he is to become the top-scoring foreigner in the Premier League, with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry sitting fifth in the standing on 175.

Harry Kane is perhaps the most realistic contender for Shearer's crown, with the 24-year-old Tottenham striker already on 78 after three superb years for Spurs.
