Gary Neville says he's 'never seen' what Arsenal managed against Man City before

Sky Sports pundit seriously impressed with Gunners after 0-0 draw

Gary Neville is convinced he has “never seen” a team limit Manchester City as much as Arsenal did on Sunday.

The Gunners ensured they will go this season unbeaten against the treble winners by claiming a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

While the result means Liverpool currently lead the Premier League title race, Mikel Arteta’s side trail them by only two points ahead of what looks a reasonably favourable run-in.

Where Arsenal collapsed at this stage last season, they are primed for the race to go to the wire as they hunt a first League title in twenty years.

Arteta is confident his team have the “belief” and “momentum” required for the run-in after ending their hoodoo at the Etihad.

Defensive pairing Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba stood out for particular praise too after keeping Erling Haaland quiet for the second time this season, following Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side at the Emirates Stadium in October.

It was an occasion in which Arsenal limited City to only one shot on target, leaving Neville – who was dismissive about their title chances last season – hugely impressed.

“I just think Arsenal made it so difficult for them,” he told Sky Sports.

“I've never seen a team make it so difficult for Manchester City in the final third. There didn't seem to be any spaces. The way in which Arsenal defended was quite unique."

The Gunners continue their quest for the title by hosting struggling Luton on Tuesday before travelling to Brighton on Saturday.
