Kick It Out chairman Lord Herman Ouseley today accused the Football Association of failing to deal with discrimination in the game in the wake of the Malky Mackay scandal.

Ouseley told Standard Sport: “I am not surprised to hear allegations like this. Unfortunately, this kind of language and prejudice continues to be part of the culture of football.

“We have not had complaints before about how Malky and Iain [Moody] conduct themselves so it is uncertain how much their apparent prejudices manifest into discrimination. But the FA set the ethical and moral standard in football and too often they have bottled it. In the case of [Premier League chief] Richard Scudamore [who sent sexist emails], they relinquished their responsibility to set those standards as they have done so many times before.

“The FA have to take a strong stance and establish a way of dealing with people harbouring these views. What is alleged here is totally reprehensible. It is hard to see how either of them can hold positions of leadership in football carrying such prejudices and expressing themselves in such ways.

"Their reputation in the game would be non-existent. There is no way that if football is taking its responsibilities seriously, that it would want any of these people around young people”
