Luis Suarez has admitted that he does not want to face England at the 2014 World Cup, adding it will be “very, very difficult” to beat them.

The 17-goal striker is set to face several of his Liverpool team-mates when his Uruguay side take on England in Brazil next summer.

Suarez conceded that while both England and Italy are strong, Uruguay will need to beat the best if they are to progress.

"Before the draw I hoped we would not face England," the forward said.

"When it said we would face England it was unbelievable for me.

“Italy, Uruguay, England: they all have good players. I think it's more difficult at the World Cup, it will be very, very difficult.

"But I think in the World Cup if you want to win, then in every game you must concentrate, and you must focus against every country."

Suarez revealed that team-mate Steven Gerrard texted him in response to the news that the pair would be playing against each other.

He joked: "Stevie sent a message to me saying 'we are so lucky', and we were laughing because it's so funny.”

England, who went unbeaten in their World Cup qualification group, face Uruguay in their second group game on June 19 at the Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo.
