Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge: We will be contenders again next season

Faith: Daniel Sturridge believes Liverpool will be challenging for the title again next year

Daniel Sturridge has apologised to Liverpool fans for failing to win the Premier League but vowed they will challenge for the title again next season.

Liverpool finished second behind Manchester City after blowing a chance of winning their first championship in 24 years. Many feel it will be harder for Liverpool to lift the title next season because Brendan Rodgers’s side will be in the Champions League but Sturridge insists they will return stronger from their disappointment.

“People can make excuses about how we had an advantage because we were not in Europe this season but I know we will be contenders again next season,” he said.

“We are all hungry for success and the fans deserve success. They have given us great support from the first minute to the last and I apologise to them for not winning the Premier League. I will do everything in my power, just like my team-mates will, to try to ensure we do that for them next season. I believe we can.
