James Milner is set to miss Liverpool's meeting with Arsenal after failing to recover from a hamstring injury.

The midfielder was absent from the Reds' squad for the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United, and will be unavailable again when the Gunners visit Merseyside this weekend.

However, Klopp expects his No.7 to be back in time for the crunch clash with Premier League champions Manchester City on January 3.

The German said: “Milly is Milly, that means he is again ahead of schedule. He had a little bit with the hamstring muscle, but he will not be available for tomorrow.

"Hopefully the game after that he will be available again."

Klopp went on to reveal that Alberto Moreno could return against Arsenal after suffering with back problems of late.

However, the same can't be said of Dominic Solanke, who is attracting plenty of loan interest ahead of the January transfer window.

He said: “Alberto trained pain-free yesterday, so he will be in contention. Dom Solanke has muscle problems, and will not be involved.
