Neil Warnock has accused Mohamed Salah of simulation against Cardiff City, claiming that the Liverpool star committed a "9.9 dive" to win a penalty.

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp's second-half specialists struck again to clinch a 2-0 win at Cardiff on Easter Sunday.

A rare Georginio Wijnaldum strike in the 57th minute eased Liverpool nerves before substitute James Milner slotted home a penalty nine minutes from time.

With Liverpool 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go, Sean Morrison had his hands all over Salah in the Cardiff penalty area: though referee Martin Atkinson may have awarded Liverpool a spot-kick for the contact regardless, Salah theatrically fell to the floor and the official pointed to the spot.

Milner sealed the win from 12 yards, and though Warnock admits that Liverpool were deserved winners in Wales, he believes Cardiff deserved a penalty of their own for an incident between Morrison and Andy Robertson - and chastised Salah for going down too easily.

"I thought (Sean) Morrison was tugged by (Andrew) Robertson when having a clear header and then a silly penalty he didn't have to give.

"The last bit was a great 9.9 dive [from Salah], wasn't it!"

Regarding Cardiff's penalty appeal, Warnock added: "Officials should try and get in a position to see that, he just stopped Morrison having a run - that's good defending if you get away with it.

"Morrison has been pulled from top to toe this season and not had a penalty. It's a nothing penalty really."
