Standard Sport assesses the individual performances from Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Southampton at Anfield.

Liverpool

Simon Mignolet: A quiet afternoon ended in frustration along with his hopes of keeping a clean sheet. 6/10

Nathaniel Clyne: Started well against his former club, but faded in the second period. 6

Martin Skrtel: An unusually quiet and calm afternoon for the Slovakian centre-half. 6

Mamadou Sakho: Switched off on occasions, and struggled against Pelle in the air. 5

Alberto Moreno: Provided width and attacking intent, but his final ball flattered to deceive. 6

Lucas: Neat and tidy on the ball, he dictated much of the play in midfield. 7

Emre Can: Another who began brightly, but lost his way as the game grew old. 6

James Milner: A busy figure all over the park, his delivery for Benteke's goal was sublime. 7

Philippe Coutinho: Threatened in the early stages, but was soon snuffed out by Clasie and Wanyama. 6

Adam Lallana: Eager to impress against the club he left, he was Liverpool's most direct threat of the first half. 6

Divock Origi: Worked hard off the ball, but contributed little in his 45 minutes. 4

Best off the Bench

Christian Benteke: Provided a physical presence and much needed excitement after his introduction before taking his goal beautifully. 7

Southampton

Maarten Stekelenburg: Rarely tested by Liverpool's wayward shooting, and had little chance with Benteke's header. 5/10

Cedric Soares: Another solid display from the Portuguese right-back. 7

Ryan Bertrand: Was often pinned back in defence, and was unable to get forward in his usual manner. 5

Jose Fonte: Typically cool in defence, his task got harder following the introduction of Benteke. 7

Virgil van Dijk: His presence caused chaos in the Liverpool box, but he lacked accuracy with his head. 6

Victor Wanyama: Provided his defence with excellent cover at times when Liverpool looked to dominate. 7

Jordy Clasie: Continues to impress following his recovery from injury. 6

Dusan Tadic: A rare ineffective afternoon for the creative Serbian. 5

Steven Davis: Fielded further forward than usual, he snatched at chances that came his way. 6

Sadio Mane: Continually excites, but often lacks calmness and composure; evident by his unnecessary dismissal after equalising. 6

Graziano Pelle: Rarely threatened in front of goal, but often part of good build-up play. 6
