Liverpool dominated Fifa's nominees for The Best men's player award with Raheem Sterling a notable snub as the 10-man shortlist was announced on Wednesday.

The European champions boast three names as Virgil van Dijk is joined by forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Usual suspects Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the Nations League with Portugal, and Lionel Messi, another Liga title winner with Barcelona.

Sterling, however, was missing despite a stellar season with Manchester City as they become the first club to win the Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup in the same campaign.

Tottenham talisman Harry Kane did make the list despite an injury-hit campaign. Kylian Mbappe was included after another fine season with Paris Saint-Germain.

Dutch wonderkids Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, now of Barcelona and Juventus respectively, are in after helping Ajax to the Eredivisie crown and within seconds of the Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp was nominated for best men's coach, along with Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola and others.

England's Ellen White and Lucy Bronze are among the nominees for best women's player, while Lionesses boss Phil Neville is on the women's coach shortlist.
