A touch of class: Liverpool star Mohamed Salah refuses to celebrate two stunning goals vs his former club AS Roma

Jurgen Klopp had warned Mohamed Salah that defenders from his former club AS Roma would treat the Liverpool star like an enemy on Tuesday night, but it the Egyptian forward who left little room for emotion at Anfield.

Two stunning goals from Salah sent Liverpool into the break 2-0 ahead after a rampant display of attacking power from Jurgen Klopp's Reds in the first leg of their semi-final tie against Roma, with the Italians simply unable to deal with Salah's quality.

Sadio Mane had already wasted two presentable chances as Liverpool fans began to wonder if their dominance would pay off.

But Salah, as always this season, came up with the goods yet again.

After Mane had seen a goal disallowed after 34 minutes, Salah bent a stunning high effort into the top right-hand corner of Alisson's net just two minutes later.

Roma thought they had weathered the storm and reached half-time just one goal down, but a trademark Liverpool counter-attack - led by Roberto Firmino - released Salah, with the Egyptian then delicately lifting an impudent chip over Alisson and bouncing into the net.

But despite netting a superb double which could end up sending Liverpool through to the Champions League final, Salah refused to celebrate either goal against his former club as he held his hands up in apology.

The goals also saw Salah close in on Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Champions League Golden Boot, with the forward now on 10 - five behind the Real Madrid star.

Salah has now scored 43 goals in all competitions this season, and has netted in 10 successive games at Anfield.
