Former Liverpool man Steve McManaman believes Jurgen Klopp could be tempted back to Germany to manage Bayern Munich.

The Reds boss has been at Anfield since 2015, winning the Champions League last season and almost certain to add the Premier League title in the coming weeks.

There’s no suggestion that the 52-year-old is ready to call time on his tenure yet, but despite his ties to Borussia Dortmund, McManaman believes it would be the Bayern job that would eventually draw him away from Merseyside.

"I think he really adores Liverpool and the Premier League," McManaman told the Daily Star. "But you could see him going back to Germany and managing Bayern Munich.

"The way that club is run - and the way German managers are treated there - you wouldn't rule it out. A few years ago it looked like Bayern were on their last legs.

"But now, along with the more experienced players, they've got a plethora of youngsters who are hungry."

McManaman himself left Liverpool in the prime of his career, joining Real Madrid in 1999, where he went on to win the Champions League twice.

Klopp is likely to have his pick of any job in club football when he does leave Liverpool, but McManaman does not see him going to Spain.

"I'm not sure Klopp has any desire to manage Real Madrid or Barcelona and I don't see why he'd go to La Liga.

"They don't have the aura that they did when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were doing battle every week. There is also all the politics behind the scenes at Barca with the board and players.

"Real is a different scenario. They need to refresh their squad and they are bringing in young players like Vinicius Junior - but they aren't ready yet."
