Liverpool welcome back Virgil van Dijk as the influential centre-back is passed fit to face Newcastle today.

Van Dijk took part in full training ahead of the trip to Tyneside having made the bench against Everton last time out.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino both featured off the bench at Anfield and are back there again at St James’ Park.

Cody Gakpo scored his first goal for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby while Darwin Nunez played a key role in Mohamed Salah’s opener, making the duo difficult to drop against Newcastle.

Liverpool are without Arthur Melo (thigh) and Luis Diaz (knee).

Brazilian midfielder Arthur is back in training as he looks to finally make an impact on his loan stint at Anfield, but Diaz remains out and Calvin Ramsay could miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.

Thiago Alcantara is unavailable with a hip problem and Ibrahima Konate (hamstring) is also out.
