Liverpool have been handed a new quadruple injury boost after Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker and Stefan Bajcetic all returned to training.

All four players were filmed by the club participating in Tuesday afternoon’s session at their training centre in Kirkby ahead of the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Serie A side Atalanta at Anfield on Thursday night.

It remains to be seen if any of the quartet will be deemed ready to be involved in that game, with manager Jurgen Klopp set to offer a full team news update when he addresses the media in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

Liverpool have battled an extensive injury list for several months now, but the picture is finally beginning to clear after the recent returns of Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch, with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo also shaking off knocks and Wataru Endo returning from a one-game absence in Sunday’s pulsating 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Klopp has been without Alexander-Arnold since he was substituted at half-time of the 3-1 top-flight win over Burnley on February 10 after suffering the recurrence of a knee injury, while Jota has not featured since being stretchered off in the costly 4-1 win at Brentford a week later with his own knee issue.

First-choice goalkeeper Alisson last played in the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal on February 4 having sustained a serious hamstring problem that has led to deputy Caoimhin Kelleher assuming the first-team reins.

Meanwhile, young Spanish midfielder Bajcetic’s only senior minutes of the season so far came with two appearances back in September as he has struggled with long-term injury and been building up his fitness with the Under-23s.

The return of that quartet will leave Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip as Liverpool’s only known injury absentees ahead of the season run-in, both of whom may already have played their final games for the club with their respective contracts due to expire in the summer.

Liverpool have already bagged the Carabao Cup in their final season under iconic boss Klopp and their two-legged Europa League quarter-final tie against Atalanta is sandwiched between a Premier League visit of Crystal Palace to Merseyside on April 14.

The second-place Reds also face Fulham, Everton, West Ham, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Wolves between now and the end of the season as they battle current leaders Arsenal and Manchester City in a thrilling three-way title fight that could go right down to the wire.
