Liverpool say they respect the decision by a tribunal regarding their signing of Harvey Elliott.

On Wednesday, it was ruled by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) that the Reds would have to pay Fulham an initial £1.5million fee for the winger, who moved to Anfield as a 16-year-old back in 2019 after rejecting a scholarship offer at Craven Cottage.

At the time of the move, the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement over compensation for Elliott, who signed his first professional contract at Liverpool last summer and is currently starring in the Championship during a season-long loan stint at Blackburn Rovers.

An additional £2.8m will also be owed to Fulham if certain add-ons relating to appearances are met, taking the potential cost of the deal to £4.3m.

In a statement on Wednesday, Fulham declared themselves "very pleased" with the outcome of the tribunal, while Liverpool have also now responded to the PFCC's decision.

"Liverpool Football Club respects the outcome of the PFCC’s fair and thorough process in this matter," the defending Premier League champions said via their official website.

“We would like to thank the panel for their time and diligence in reaching a decision.

“We now look forward to welcoming Harvey back from his loan spell with Blackburn Rovers in the summer and helping him continue to build towards a long and successful career at Anfield.”
