The 49-year-old former Tottenham defender led Orient to the National League title this season. Orient confirmed Edinburgh was “taken ill unexpectedly”.

Edinburgh made more than 200 appearances for Tottenham during 10 years at the club as a player between 1990-2000. He started his career at Southend and also played for Portsmouth before ending his playing days at Billericay Town.

Edinburgh had managerial spells at Newport County, Gillingham and Northampton Town before he took over at Orient in 2017.
