Kyle Walker: We are seeing 'the real' Tottenham Hotspur this season

Kyle Walker believes the footballing world is seeing "the real" Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Mauricio Pochettin's young side are riding high in second place in the Premier League table after Monday night's emphatic 4-0 victory at Stoke.

Spurs are now just five points adrift of leaders Leicester and hope that the north London club can win their first title in 55 years has been reignited ahead of the run-in.

Tottenham are on course to record their best ever Premier League finish and Walker is adamant the togetherness within the White Hart Lane dressing room is spurring the side on to new heights.

"I believe we’re seeing the real Tottenham Hotspur," he told the club's official website.

“This group of players for team spirit and togetherness, inside and outside the training ground, is incredible and that’s what is pushing us to produce what we’re producing week in, week out."

Pochettino's willingness to field youngsters is widely considered to have played a key part in Tottenham's progress and Walker, who was one of five Spurs players to be included in the most recent England squad, has hailed the club's Academy system.

“The squad is of the same age group and there is an English core which is obviously good for English football.

"You have to take your hats off to the Academy staff who have brought through a number of players," said the full back.

Spurs are not in action until Monday night and could find themselves eight points behind Leicester when they kick off against West Brom as the Foxes take on Swansea on Sunday afternoon.
