Arsenal Women captain Kim Little ruled out for season in latest major injury blow

Former Scotland midfielder joins the likes of Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema on the sidelines

Arsenal Women have suffered another major blow after captain Kim Little was ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

Little was injured during last month’s Champions League quarter-final win over Bayern Munich and subsequent scans have revealed that she faces a long spell on the sidelines.

The injury to Little is a huge loss for Arsenal, who are already without Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema due to serious knee injuries.

Lionesses captain Leah Williamson will take over as skipper, with Arsenal chasing a domestic and European double under Jonas Eidevall this term.

The Gunners are involved in a four-way fight for the WSL title and face leaders Manchester United on Wednesday night in a crucial game at the top.

They then face Wolfsburg in Germany on Sunday in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, with the return leg at Emirates Stadium on May 1.

Arsenal said in statement on Monday: “Our captain has already begun her rehabilitation and this process is progressing well. We expect her to be available for the start of preparations for the 2023-24 season.”
