Kevin Phillips hopeful over Palace future

Kevin Phillips hopes to finally agree a deal to play for Crystal Palace in the Premier League by the end of the week.

The 39-year-old, who joined them on loan from Blackpool last season, scored the winning goal for Palace in the Championship play-off final against Watford in May.

He is available on a free transfer and has revealed that a number of clubs are rivalling Ian Holloway’s side for his signature.

However, he now expects to make a permanent switch to Selhurst Park and said: “Ian Holloway isn't afraid to use me, he wants me at the football club and I want to stay. Hopefully we’ll get it sorted by the end of the week.

“I’m not sure if a Championship club can tempt me. I know what sort of role I’m going to be playing, it’s a bit-part one, and I’d rather be doing it in the Premier League.”
