Karel Fraeye was due to take training at Charlton today as the club started its search for a new manager.

Fraeye has been appointed on an interim basis after Guy Luzon was sacked following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat by Brentford.

The 37-year-old Fraeye was assistant to Jose Riga when the pair kept Charlton in the Championship at the end of the 2013-14 season.

He will be assisted by fellow Belgian Wim De Corte and his first game in charge will be at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Fraye returns to Charlton from VW Hamme, a side sitting 12th in the third tier of Belgian football.
