Kacaniklic on fringes but still feels at home

Alex Kacaniklic returns to Anfield with Fulham tomorrow, insisting he has no regrets about leaving Liverpool.

The 22-year-old moved to Craven Cottage in 2010 and although he has found opportunities limited this season is convinced he made the right move.

“Who knows what would have happened if I stayed? But I certainly don’t have any regrets,” said Kacaniklic, who never made a first-team appearance for Liverpool in three years there.

“I was training with the senior squad after the summer break but then Fulham came along and convinced me to come here. I would not say I never made it there, I chose to leave. I am happy at Fulham.”

Kacaniklic impressed coming off the bench in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United and could be rewarded with a starting place tomorrow.

“You want to do well when you play your old club, so hopefully that is what will happen,” said the midfielder. “They have had a great start and I am really happy to see them back near the top. With Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard, they are a great team.”
