Jurgen Klopp was offered little sympathy by match referee Mark Clattenburg when the pair shared a joke after Liverpool’s victory at Stamford Bridge.

The newly appointed German boss followed up his first win as Liverpool manager with a 3-1 victory away to Chelsea on Saturday, to move within four points of the Premier League’s top four.

Klopp is yet to suffer defeat since replacing Brendan Rodgers, and was quizzed on his chances of guiding Liverpool to a top-four finish this season after their weekend triumph.

And The Sun reports that Klopp shared a joke with referee Clattenburg, after being left bemused by post-match questioning at Stamford Bridge.

“I can’t believe that England is so impatient,” said the Liverpool boss when asked on his side’s top-four chances, before catching Clattenburg walking past the tunnel.

Addressing the match referee, he called out: “they are asking for top four.”

“Welcome to England!” Clattenburg replied.

Clattenburg had felt the wrath of the Chelsea fans, and the touchline bewilderment from Jose Mourinho, after deciding not send off Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva for two bookable offences.
