Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes new boss Jurgen Klopp has already made an impact on the squad since taking over from Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool recorded a goalless draw in the weekend trip White Hart Lane, as Klopp oversaw his first match in charge of the club following the international break.

Despite having more clear-cut chances in the game, Tottenham found it difficult to build momentum as a result of Liverpool’s high-pressing tactics, and Carragher is confident the Reds will provided a tough test for any opponent they face.

"I think they [Spurs players] would've thought it was a nightmare to play against," he told Sky Sports, when analysing Saturday’s game on Monday Night Football.

“It's not going to be an enjoyable game playing against Liverpool now if they continue to press like that. And they will.”

“He's come in on day one and they've had more sprints and covered more distance than everyone else. If it was that easy, why doesn't everyone do it?”

Carragher, who made over 500 appearances for Liverpool between 1996 and 2013, believes Klopp’s mantra of ‘organised pressing’ that worked so effectively at Borussia Dortmund is already taking shape at the club.

“We've been reading and hearing about what he was like with pressing and how much distance they're going to cover” he continued.

“Very rarely do you see a manager stamp his authority on a team from day one, and that's what he did.”

“Transition was a massive thing for Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund and it looks like it will be for this Liverpool team.

“It's organised pressing. You can see that it has been worked on in the first two or three days of training. These are things you don't see from every team.

“It's like Liverpool having an extra man on the pitch in terms of pressing and defending.”
