Julian Speroni: Forget the run, it’s all about now for Crystal Palace

Julian Speroni is not worried by Crystal Palace’s recent slump and believes their poor form will count for nothing if they reach the play-offs.

Palace have now gone nine games without a win but a point at home against Peterborough tomorrow should be enough to secure a top-six place.

“I know people talk about momentum but what happens before the play-offs does not matter,” said goalkeeper Speroni (above). “If you get there, you always have momentum otherwise you would not be there. We have played in the play-offs before and I think it is what happens on the day.”

Palace manager Ian Holloway said: “I believe we will have as good a chance as anyone of the other three if we get there but I do not talk about getting there yet because we have not earned that right.

“I have said all along the hardest point that you need to get is the one that gets you there. But we have good players and we have got to remember that.

“It is not a nice feeling when you lose because you are judged on results but Crystal Palace have been almost in the top six all season so we are a good side.”
